If you already work in a studio or have a home studio setup, you probably already have high quality microphones and a mixing console. In this scenario you would mic up or direct input your instrument into the mixing console and have a separate microphone connected to talk through. You can then adjust the mix volume of your voice and instrument accordingly. You could then output the mix to your computers audio 'line in' input and use that as your microphone source in the instant messaging tool.
